PredictTB featured in EDCTP Annual Report 2016

The EDCTP has recently published its Annual Report 2016, highlighting the programme’s work in the past year and showcasing its funding priorities as well as its considerable project portfolio.

EDCTP Executive Director Dr Michael Makanga points out in his introductory remarks that EDCTP continues to be an ambitious programme and that 2016 was a transformational year for consolidating the organisation itself and accelerating focussed implementation of the programme.

By the end of 2016, EDCTP2 was funding 60 grants with a total value of €97.09 million; €75.11 million of this amount was invested in large-scale clinical trials and clinical research projects.

The PredictTB Consortium is delighted that the project is featured in the Annual Report as one of the clinical trials funded under the EDCTP tuberculosis research portfolio. The one-page feature includes a detailed description of PredictTB objectives as well as remarks by EDCTP project coordinator Prof. Gerhard Walzl from Stellenbosch University, who points out in a quote that the gist of PredictTB will be to “ultimately impact point-of-care decision making on treatment duration”.
